Cottonwood Campground features 25 campsites set among live oaks within the McCain Valley Resource Conservation Area, ranging between 3,000 and 4,500 feet in elevation. On-site facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, with horses permitted exclusively in the east loop. Motorized off-highway vehicles are prohibited. Trailheads in the campground connect directly to the Pepperwood and Sombrero Peak trails, leading toward Upper Bow Willow Canyon and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
In-Ko-Pah Mountains stands 1,502 ft above the site, 1.5 miles west. The nearest town, Pine Valley, is 10 mi off.
