Angel Island is a 740-acre mountainous island in central San Francisco Bay, accessible by ferry from Tiburon. The Sunrise Sites are closely grouped hike-in tent campsites positioned on the island's northeast side, offering unobstructed eastward views across the bay toward Oakland and Berkeley. The sites can be windy but work well for groups reserving all three together. Each site includes a picnic table, tent platform, and bear-proof food locker; pit toilets and water are shared among the island's camping areas. Getting there requires a ferry ride and a 1.5–2.5 mile backpack carry over hilly terrain.
