Tar Camp Park sits in a forested area along the Arkansas River near Pool 5 Lock and Dam. The campground offers over 50 campsites, mostly with electric and water hookups, campfire rings, grills, lamp posts, and picnic tables. Amenities include two reservable group picnic shelters, a playground, a basketball court, a rock climbing wall, and boat access. Anglers come to fish for catfish in the tailwaters and bass or crappie in the river, while hunters use surrounding waterways and forests. Little Rock and Pine Bluff are a short drive away.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Sits on broad, near-level ground.

Tar Camp Creek runs 0.1 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. Most sites here have an electric hookup -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Redfield, is 4.1 mi off.

September normals 6385°F, 3.4″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
