Squirrel Meadows Cabin, built in 1934 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits in a pine-bordered meadow at 6,500 feet on the Yellowstone Plateau. The two-room lodgepole pine cabin sleeps six on bunk beds with mattresses. Amenities include a wood cook stove, table, chairs, outdoor hand pump, vault toilet, picnic table, and horse corrals. Electricity is not available. Located 24 miles east of Ashton off Ashton-Flagg Ranch Road, the site offers access to trail riding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, late-summer berry picking, and nearby OHV trails.

Getting there: From Ashton, ID, take Highway 47 a half-mile to Highway 32 and turn right (south). Travel 1 mile to Ashton-Flagg Ranch Road (#261). Turn left (east) and travel 22 miles to Road #032. Turn right (south) and go a half-mile to the cabin.
