Eight-thousand-acre park wrapping the Guernsey Reservoir on the North Platte River, one mile northwest of the town of Guernsey at 4,423 feet elevation. Rocky high-plains terrain hosts seven campgrounds, three boat ramps, and hiking trails around the impounded water, which holds walleye, yellow perch, and channel catfish. The park's 1934–1939 Civilian Conservation Corps infrastructure marks the first collaboration between the National Park Service and Bureau of Reclamation; a National Historic Landmark District and the Oregon Trail Ruts are preserved here.
