Glendo State Park encompasses 18,382 acres surrounding Glendo Reservoir on the North Platte River at 4,639 feet elevation, approximately 20 miles southeast of Douglas. The reservoir, created by a dam built 1954–1958, offers extensive recreation with over 500 campsites distributed across multiple camping areas and 45 miles of mountain bike trails. The park is known for quality fishing, with the reservoir producing several state-record-size fish. The dramatic 2017 solar eclipse passed directly over the park, providing a memorable astronomical event for visitors.
