Setting
Set along the Shoshone River, this 31-site campground accommodates hard-sided RVs and trailers up to 40 feet; soft-sided tents and pop-up campers are prohibited due to local grizzly bear activity. On-site facilities include drinking water, though the ground is not mobility-accessible. Two foot trails depart directly from the camp—one leading to a natural rock bridge and the other to a monument honoring firefighters from the 1937 Blackwater Fire. Mummy Cave is also located nearby.
Getting there: From Cody, travel west on U.S. Highway 14/16/20 for 37 miles to the campground. (This campground is about 16 miles from the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park)
