Built in 1933 by the CCC, La Barge Guard Station is a two-room log cabin sitting in La Barge Meadow at 8,500 feet, right along La Barge Creek at the base of Commissary Ridge. The cabin sleeps six on three bunk beds and contains a wood stove, propane lights, propane oven, and refrigerator. Outside is a vault toilet. The site lacks electricity and indoor plumbing; water is not guaranteed. Horses and pets are allowed, and the Wagner Pass Trail begins right behind the building, following the historical Lander Cutoff.
