7 of the 13.7 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Mostly graded dirt, with 6.5 miles of dirt. Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~100 ft on the downhill side. Winds through 5 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch. A cattle guard 13 miles in.
Limestone Mountain stands 1,074 ft above the site, 0.6 miles southeast. Secluded here -- the nearest through road is 3.1 miles off. A well-travelled stretch -- travellers have camped along here. The nearest town, Lander, is 16 mi off.
