Setting
Beech Fork Lake features five day-use picnic areas situated around a 720-acre reservoir. Four covered shelters offer electric hookups and traditional charcoal grills, while an uncovered swimming deck sits at Stower's Branch Swim Beach. Amenities include playgrounds, horseshoe pits, basketball and volleyball courts, and access to the Spillway Trail. Two shelters overlook the lake, two sit near a stream below the dam, and the beach location is close to a full-service marina. The adjacent Beech Fork State Park adds extensive trail networks for hiking.
Getting there: FROM CHARLESTON, WV: Travel west on interstate 64 for a distance of approximately 52 miles to exit 8. From exit 8 proceed south on Route 152 for a distance of about 5 miles to Beech Fork Road. Turn left on Beech Fork Road and go approximately 3 miles. FROM LEXINGTON, KY: Travel east on Interstate 64 for a distance of approximately 120 miles to exit 8. From exit 8 proceed south on Route 152 for a distance of about 5 miles to Beech Fork Road. Turn left on Beech Fork Road and go approximately 3 miles.
