Setting
Horseshoe Recreation Area sits in a valley along the Horseshoe Run River in Monongahela National Forest, seven miles from St. George, West Virginia. The campground features electric hookups at standard sites, accessible vault toilets, non-accessible flush toilets, hand-pumped drinking water, and a camp store selling ice and firewood. Two group picnic shelters with electric and non-electric options are on-site. Three short hiking trails, including the 1.8-mile Losh Trail, originate nearby, and the river provides opportunities for trout fishing.
Getting there: From Parsons, take State Route 72 northeast to State Route 5 to St. George. In St. George, turn south on State Route 1. Follow State Route 1 to the intersection of State Route 7. Turn left on State Route 7 and continue past the YMCA Camp Horseshoe to the Horseshoe Recreation Area entrance.
