Setting
Stuart Campground sits along a bend of the Shavers Fork River in the Allegheny Mountains. The single-loop facility features 26 campsites equipped with electric hookups, tent pads, fire rings, lantern posts, and paved spurs. Facilities include accessible flush restrooms, showers, vault toilets, drinking water, and an RV dump station. Adjacent to the loop is a 40-person group campsite, a day-use area with three picnic pavilions, a 14-acre mowed field, a river beach, and access to the 2-mile River Loop Trail. A historic, fully restored two-bedroom cabin is also available on-site.
Getting there: From Elkins, West Virginia: Take Highway 219 to Highway 33. Travel east for approximately 4 miles, turn north on old Route 33 and travel for 2 miles. Turn left at Highway 6 (at the Stuart Recreation Area directional sign) and drive .25 miles to entrance.
