Gatewood Group Campground sits on a high mountain ridge at 4,300 feet in the Monongahela National Forest, two miles from Spruce Knob Lake. The facility offers three group sites accommodating up to 20 people each, equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and pit toilets. There is no electricity, drinking water, or ABA accessibility on site. The surrounding forest terrain features over 500 miles of trails, including the Gatewood Nature Trail, with West Virginia's highest peak, Spruce Knob, located nine miles away.

Getting there: From Riverton, WV, take US Route 33 south 2 miles to Briery Gap Road, County Route 33/4. Turn right and go 3 miles to Forest Road 112. Continue 13.5 miles to Forest Road 131. Turn right and open gate. Campground is at the end of Forest Road 131.
