Setting
Summersville Lake Shelters sits on the shore of West Virginia's largest reservoir, framed by sandstone cliffs and hardwood forest. This day-use facility features four large group picnic shelters equipped with flush toilets and drinking water. The 2,700-acre lake has 60 miles of shoreline with coves for boating, swimming, scuba diving, and fishing for bass, walleye, and catfish. Technical rock climbing routes line the lake cliffs, and year-round whitewater rafting is available on the nearby Gauley River. Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park is 10 minutes away.
