Campground details
Setting
Gerald Freeman Camp sits along the headwaters of Sutton Lake, surrounded by rolling, oak-and-hickory-wooded hills. The 156-site facility includes 113 electric-only sites and 37 full-hookup sites, along with hot showers, flush toilets, drinking water, and two dump stations. Campers have access to on-site boat ramps, a marina with a snack bar, playgrounds, and basketball courts. The 1,440-acre lake provides quiet coves for bass and catfish fishing, while the downstream Elk River is stocked with trout. Fire roads and hunting trails extend into the adjacent 18,000-acre Elk River Wildlife Management Area.
