Setting
The largest campground in Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Boulder Lake Recreation Area offers 99 sites on the shores of 362-acre Boulder Lake in Wisconsin. Amenities include electricity at some sites, RV dump station, shower buildings, flush toilets, and vault toilets. Potable water, picnic tables, and a paved boat ramp (parking for 16-20 vehicles) are available. Fishing for walleye, northern pike, and panfish; ice fishing access plowed in winter. A wooden boardwalk trail explores primitive bog vegetation. Reservations at recreation.gov.
Getting there: From Townsend, travel Highway T for about 17 miles to the intersection with Highway W. Turn onto Highway W and continue just over a mile to Forest Road 2116. Turn right and continue to the campground.
