Pine Needle Group Campground is a single large group site on the banks of the American River in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Built for up to 60 guests, the clearing includes picnic tables, a shared group campfire ring, and vault toilets. River access provides cold-water swimming and trout fishing. The site sits near the 26-mile American Ridge Trail, which links Bumping River to the Pacific Crest Trail, and is within driving distance of Goat Rocks Wilderness and the Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
American Ridge stands 3,454 ft above the site, 3.3 miles southwest. American River runs 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a single-site campground. A group campground -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Cle Elum, is 20 mi off.
