Built in 1909 along an old stock driveway, the historic Gotchen Creek Guard Station is a two-room cabin set in an aspen grove near a meadow at the base of Mt. Adams. The site includes the main cabin and a separate bunkhouse, sleeping up to six guests across two double bunk beds. Facilities feature a propane heat stove, propane cooktop, propane refrigerator, cookware, and a vault toilet 20 yards away. There is no running water on site. Gotchen Creek Trail #40 and Snipes Mountain Trail #11 are nearby, providing access into the Mt. Adams Wilderness.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Sits on broad, near-level ground.
Mount Adams stands 10,149 ft above the site, 14 miles northwest. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. Dry Creek runs 0.9 mi off. The nearest town, White Salmon, is 24 mi off.
