Built in 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the American River Guard Station is a historic cabin set in old-growth Douglas fir and hemlock along the American River. The cabin features a bedroom, sleeping loft, kitchen, wood stove, electric baseboard heat, dining table, and rustic outhouse, though guests must bring drinking water. The grounds include a picnic table and fire ring. The site offers direct access to river trout fishing and white-water paddling, with nearby trails extending into the Norse Peak Wilderness and toward Mt. Rainier National Park.
