Setting

Limited privacy

Douglas Fir Campground sits along the North Fork Nooksack River under a mature conifer canopy in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Standard sites cater to tent and RV campers, featuring picnic tables, campfire rings, and tent pads, alongside vault toilets and drinking water. A historic picnic shelter built by the Civilian Conservation Corps is available on-site. Hikers take the Horseshoe Bend Trail right along the river, while whitewater rafters and kayakers use the nearby river access. The popular Skyline Divide Trail and Heather Meadows lie just up the Mt. Baker Scenic Byway.

Getting there: From Seattle, Washington, go north on I-5 to Bellingham. Take exit 255 onto Sunset Drive/Mt. Baker Highway SR 542. Continue on SR 542 past the town of Glacier near mile 33 and continue approximately 2 miles to the campground. The campground is on the left (west) side of the highway just after crossing the bridge over the North Fork Nooksack River.
