Setting
Spencer Spit State Park occupies 138 acres on the eastern shore of Lopez Island with 7,840 feet of shoreline. Its signature feature is a sandy peninsula that creates a salt-water lagoon—a critical habitat for migratory waterfowl and bald eagles. The park offers camping and mooring buoys as part of the Cascadia Marine Trail, with swimming, hiking, fishing, clamming, and beachcombing. Historic structures include the stone cellar of the old Spencer House and a replica of the original log cabin built by the Spencers.
