Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park preserves over 50 petrified species from the Miocene epoch, 15.5 million years old—including ginkgo, redwood, walnut, and Douglas-fir specimens embedded in sagebrush-covered hills adjacent to Wanapum Reservoir. The 7,124-acre park features the Trees of Stone Interpretive Trail with 1.5- and 2.5-mile loops, an onsite museum of petrified wood and Native American petroglyphs, and 27,000 feet of Columbia River shoreline with swimming and boating access. A campground and interpretive center support exploration of the site's geological and cultural significance.
