Big Pines is the largest BLM recreation site along the 27-mile Yakima River Canyon, set among basalt cliffs and desert hills. Located right off State Route 821, the facility offers drive-in, walk-in, and group campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Amenities include vault toilets, dumpsters, and a non-motorized boat launch for floaters, kayakers, and anglers fishing the Blue Ribbon trout stream. Wild Bighorn sheep and raptors inhabit the canyon, and undeveloped hiking trails on state wildlife land directly border the northern edge of the grounds.
