Godman Guard Station is a two-story 1933 wood cabin perched at 5,600 feet elevation, right at the border of the 177,465-acre Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness. Surrounded by grand fir, Douglas fir, and spruce, the cabin sleeps eight with two bedrooms, propane heat, propane lights, a cookstove, refrigerator, outdoor fire pit, picnic table, and outhouse. No water is provided. The adjacent historic CCC complex includes feed bunks and hitching rails for horses. Visitors hike wilderness trails like West Butte Trail #3138, fish, hunt, or snowmobile on groomed winter trails.
Road difficulty 4 of 5 -- a difficult drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, gravel, pitching to 12%, 50% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
