Setting
First opened in 1937 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Cabin Camp 2 spans 132 acres of dense forest and grassy clearings. Designed for group events, the property sleeps 149 people across circular units composed of eight cabins, a bathhouse, and a lodge. The layout consists primarily of four-person cabins, complemented by two-person and six-person structures. Facilities include a ballfield and direct lake access within the park.
Getting there: GPS applications do not always provide accurate directions to the cabin camps so follow these directions instead. From North and South: Use Interstate 95. Take Virginia exit 150. Go west on Joplin Road for 5 miles. Turn right on Mawavi Road. From West: From the community of Independent Hill, use Joplin Road Highway 619 to approach the camp. Turn left at Mawavi Road. In one-eighth of a mile, the road comes to a T intersection. Turn left to Cabin Camp 2. Drive one mile to the parking lot
