Setting
Fort Hunt Park is a day-use picnic facility set among grassy fields and woods along the Potomac River in Northern Virginia. The site features six reservable picnic areas with capacities from 100 to 600 people, including four covered pavilions, along with an open first-come, first-served picnic area. Pavilion A is equipped with electricity and allows amplified sound. On-site features include historic Spanish-American War gun battery ruins, coal disposal ash cans, and a multi-use paved trail along the Loop Road. The park connects to the Mount Vernon Trail two miles from George Washington's estate.
Getting there: From Interstate 395, take exit 10B for George Washington Memorial Parkway. Merge onto the parkway and continue for about 12 miles. Turn right onto Fort Hunt Road and continue to the park.
