2.8 of the 17.3 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Mostly graded dirt, with 2.8 miles of dirt. Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~160 ft on the downhill side. Winds through 11 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch. Cattle guards 1 and 12.7 miles in.
