Setting

Some privacy

Storm Mountain Day Use Area sits three miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon along the banks of Big Cottonwood Creek, shaded by oak and aspen trees at the base of Storm Mountain. This day-use facility features paved roads, paved footpaths, single picnic sites, four group sites, and a historic stone amphitheater available for reservation. Most sites are accessible and include picnic tables, campfire rings, and horseshoe pits, with flush toilets provided on-site. Visitors must bring their own drinking water. Pets are prohibited due to the watershed location.

Getting there: From I-215, take the 6200 South exit and travel a mile east to Wasatch Blvd. Take Wasatch Blvd a mile south to junction with Big Cottonwood Canyon/Highway 190. Make a left at the junction and travel up Big Cottonwood Canyon 2.8 miles to the picnic area.
