Setting
Located at 5,938 feet in the Three Peaks Recreation Area, Rocky Peak Campground sits within a pinyon-juniper forest punctuated by granite boulders and views of the Hurricane Cliffs. Individual sites feature picnic tables, fire rings with grill grates, and access to vault toilets, while group areas add covered pavilions. Drinking water is at nearby trailheads, but there are no hookups. Visitors come to explore local hiking and mountain bike trails, an OHV trailhead, disc golf courses, a shooting range, and an RC car track.
Getting there: From Cedar City, take Main Street (UT-130) north and take the third exit in the roundabout onto Midvalley Road. After 6 miles on Midvalley Road, continue straight and follow the road through Three Peaks Recreation Area. The campground is on the left shortly after the road transitions from pavement to dirt.
- Limited separation from through roads or other sites here, a 12-site campground with the nearest through road 0.6 miles off.
- Most of them shaded.
- Estimated night sky: Bortle 2, true dark-sky territory.
