FR 30575 — Overlook Waterpocket Fold in UT -- Free Camping & Overnight Parking in Utah

A 1.5-mile stretch of dirt National Forest road in Garfield County, UT.

Fishlake National Forest, Fremont River Ranger District allows dispersed camping here -- 16-day limit in any 30 days. Camp at least 200 ft from water.

All 1.5 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Dirt the whole way in (1.5 miles). Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~100 ft on the downhill side. Little level ground alongside -- few of the stretches measured have a flat spot to pull onto. Winds through 3 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch.

Chokecherry Point stands 2,003 ft above the site, 1.3 miles west. A well-travelled stretch -- travellers have camped along here. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.2 miles off. Chipmunk Spring lies 1.1 mi off. The nearest town, Monroe, is 55 mi off.
