Designated sites only

U.S. Forest Service allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.

Located along the Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway on Highway 31, this shaded site sits directly on Huntington Creek. Designed as a standalone double campsite for up to 12 people, the location includes a gravel parking spur, picnic table, and fire ring. There are no restrooms or water hookups on site; drinking water is available seven miles away at Stuart Guard Station, and vault toilets sit three-quarters of a mile north at Little Bear Campground. Nearby trails include the 3.5-mile Huntington Pipeline Trail and the 6-mile Left Fork of Huntington Trail.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Wild Horse Ridge stands 2,237 ft above the site, 3.0 miles east. Mill Fork runs 0.8 mi off. The nearest town, Huntington, is 12 mi off.

September normals 3971°F, 1.6″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
