Moon Lake Guard Station sits at an elevation of 8,000 feet among lodgepole pine, aspen, and Douglas fir near the shore of Moon Lake on the southern slope of the Uinta Mountains. The cabin sleeps up to four guests with a queen bed and a twin bunk bed, offering flush toilets, running water, a shower, a wood stove, electric lights, standard appliances, and parking for two vehicles. No outdoor fires, tents, or RVs are permitted. Trails for hiking and horseback riding into the High Uintas Wilderness originate nearby, with boat rentals available at the adjacent resort.

Getting there: From Duchesne, Utah take State Hwy 87 north for 15.5 miles. Turn North on Hwy 134 toward Mountain Home, then continue north to the Forest Boundary and Forest Road 131. Follow road 131 for five miles to the Moon Lake Campground. Go straight into Moon Lake Campground and take Lower Campground Loop, just past site #44 and Yield sign turn right. Park in assigned parking spots as you approach cabin. The cabin is about 32 miles from Duchesne on paved roads although some spots have pot holes.
