Rocky Creek Park sits on a peninsula on the shores of Somerville Lake, less than 10 miles from the town of Somerville. The campground offers 192 sites, including 30-amp and 50-amp RV hookups as well as 35 tent sites with 30-amp power. Facilities for registered campers feature flush toilets, hot showers, fire rings, picnic tables, a dump station, two boat ramps, and a reservable group pavilion. The terrain has scattered trees offering limited shade, with pelicans along the shoreline. Activities center on water sports, hiking, biking, and fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish.
Getting there: From Austin, Texas, take US 290 east to Brenham. Follow HWY 36 north 11.5 miles to FM 1948. Turn left on FM 1948 and follow 5 miles to the park entrance.
