A 3,840-acre park featuring towering sand dunes up to 70 feet high across the northern section of the Monahans Sandhills, a sand formation stretching 70 miles. The landscape consists of nearly pure quartz sand stabilized by Havard oak shrubs with deep root systems reaching groundwater in this semi-arid ecosystem receiving 12.3 inches of annual rainfall. Campsites with water and electricity are available. Recreation includes sandboarding, sand surfing, and sand sports, along with hiking and wildlife viewing. Mule deer, coyotes, badgers, kangaroo rats, and ground squirrels inhabit the dunes.
