Lake Mineral Wells State Park occupies 3,282.5 acres in north-central Texas west of Fort Worth, featuring a 640-acre lake surrounded by Western Cross Timbers ecosystem. Elevation ranges from 718 to 1,235 feet. The lake supports fishing for catfish, crappie, sunfish, and largemouth bass, with six fishing piers, boat rentals (canoes, kayaks, paddleboards), and a swimming area. The park includes 12.8 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, ranging from easy to challenging, plus the separate 20-mile Mineral Wells Trailway. A notable geological feature, Penitentiary Hollow, offers climbing and rappelling opportunities. Equestrian campsites are available for horse travelers.
