Barrier island with five miles of Gulf coastline on one side and productive shallow-water bays on the other. Beach camping includes 48 water-electric sites set back a third-mile from shore and 50 primitive sites directly on the beach. Full restrooms and hot showers available. The western shore features 20 miles of paddling trails through some of Texas's best shallow-water fishing grounds. Nearby Corpus Christi area attractions include the Texas State Aquarium, Padre Island National Seashore, and Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.
