Bird Island Basin sits directly along the Laguna Madre, offering a launching point for windsurfing, kayaking, fishing, and birdwatching. The layout consists of 35 gravel RV and tent sites set side by side, alongside 10 walk-up tent sites positioned on a sand flat. Vault toilets serve the northern and southern edges of the property, flanking a central day-use area.

Getting there: From the park entrance station, travel south on Park Road 22 for 0.8 miles (1.2 km). Turn right on Bird Island Basin Road. Travel 1.4 miles (2.2 km) to the campground. Bird Island Basin Campground is located 4.4 miles (7 km) northwest of the Malaquite Visitor Center.
