Setting
Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936, Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area centers on a 45-acre lake surrounded by loblolly pines and hardwoods in Davy Crockett National Forest. The campground features 56 campsites, including Dogwood Loop sites with electrical hookups for rigs up to 50 feet. Facilities include flush toilets, hot and cold showers, a boat ramp, fishing piers, a swimming area, picnic shelters, and an amphitheater. On-site trails include the 1.5-mile Tall Pines, 0.75-mile Trail Tamers, and the 20-mile Four C Trail. Only electric boat motors are permitted on the water.
Getting there: From Crockett, take State Highway 7 east for 15 miles. The recreation area is on the left between the towns of Ratcliff and Kennard.
