Mountain tent camping in Franklin Mountains State Park near El Paso. Tom Mays Unit offers 14 tent sites, many with shade shelters, including double and triple-sized options. Sites lack water and electricity; bring your own supply. Set in rugged high-desert landscape with elevations from 5,120 to 7,192 feet, the park features over 100 miles of trails through cacti-covered terrain and dramatic mountain scenery. Cooling towers and desert vegetation provide the stark, challenging backdrop.
