Setting
Hackberry Pavilion sits inside Avalon Park on the southern shore of the 21,400-acre Lavon Lake in northern Texas. Designed for large day-use events, the site centers around a single picnic pavilion built to accommodate up to 500 visitors alongside a sandy swimming beach. Anglers fish the lake for largemouth bass, white bass, blue catfish, and crappie. The area is shaded by native hackberry trees, and the multi-use Trinity Trail runs nearby for hiking and horseback riding. The town of Wylie, home to a local wildlife rescue and education center, is located close by.
Getting there: Hackberry Pavilion is located on the east end of Avalon Park. From Wylie, TX, Go North on State Highway 78, take a left on Eubanks, and a right on Skyview Drive. Avalon Park is on the left side of the road. From Lavon, go South on State Highway 78 approximately 2 miles, after crossing over the Trinity River, turn right at Lavon Reservoir sign (CR 384).
