Lake Somerville - Birch Creek Unit State Park - Yaupon Camping Area in TX -- Campground & RV Camping in Texas

Located on the north shore of an 85-mile shoreline lake formed by the Army Corps of Engineers in the 1960s, Birch Creek sits among oak and hickory woodlands with yaupon holly. The 8,700-acre park offers campsites with water and electricity, equestrian camping for horse travelers, and a 13-mile trail system connecting to the Nails Creek unit through mixed forest. On-site restrooms with showers serve campers. The lake supports largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish fishing; boating and swimming available on the reservoir's waters. Texas Parks and Wildlife opened the park in 1970.
