Blanco State Park - Shelter Area in TX -- Campground & RV Camping in Texas

Tucked into the Texas Hill Country about an hour from Austin and San Antonio at 1,350-foot elevation, this compact park hugs a one-mile stretch of the spring-fed Blanco River. The Civilian Conservation Corps built the distinctive stone pavilion, picnic areas, and dams in 1933–1934. Falls Dam creates a shallow wading pool for small children; the river itself offers swimming and paddling. Full-hookup campsites, water-and-electricity sites, and screened shelters all face the river. Shore fishing requires no state license; electric-motor boating available. Winter trout stocking adds seasonal appeal.
