Bullinger Creek Camping Area occupies part of Stephen F. Austin State Park's 663 acres along the Brazos River in San Felipe, preserving the 1823 colonial settlement where Stephen F. Austin brought the first 297 families to Texas. The park features 119 campsites ranging from primitive to full hookups, screened shelters, and historic cabins. The riparian landscape includes pecan, elm, and hackberry uplands with cottonwood, sycamore, and ash along the river bottoms, attracting white-tailed deer, bobcats, raccoons, and diverse bird species. Hiking trails wind through the preserve.
