Setting
Hanks Creek Park sits along the edge of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, surrounded by the pine forests of the Angelina National Forest in eastern Texas. The park features 47 campsites equipped with electric hookups, alongside group camping areas and hot shower facilities. Recreational amenities include an on-site boat ramp, a playground, and open areas for volleyball. Visitors use the park to access the 114,000-acre lake for swimming, jet skiing, and bass fishing, or to head north to the nearby Bannister Wildlife Management Area for hiking and bird watching.
Getting there: From Zavalla, TX, take State Hwy 147 northeast for 1/4 mile, then turn north on FM 2109, go 8 miles to FM 2801. Turn right (east) on FM 2801 and go 2 miles to the park entrance. Follow signs into the campground.
