Setting
Shutes Branch is a day-use recreation site on the shores of Old Hickory Lake along the Cumberland River, located outside Nashville. The park features individual picnic sites, a fishing platform, a boat launch, and a reservable 50-person group shelter with electric hookups. The Shutes Branch Mountain Biking Trail originates in the picnic area, offering a beginner loop that transitions into technical terrain with ledges and tight turns. Visitors use the site to launch boats, swim, and fish for local warmwater species along the reservoir's 440 miles of wooded shoreline.
Getting there: From downtown Nashville get on I-40 E/I-65 S for .9 miles. Follow I-40 E for 12.2 miles and then take exit 221A from I-40 E. Take Andrew Jackson Pkwy which turns into Saundersville Rd for 6.5 miles. Shutes Branch Recreation Area will be located on the right side of the road.
