Avondale is a day-use access area along the main channel of Old Hickory Lake on the Cumberland River. The facility provides a year-round boat launch and seasonal flush toilets, alongside a reservable group picnic shelter that accommodates up to 50 people and 30 vehicles. Boaters and anglers use the launch for water sports or fishing for black bass, crappie, and paddlefish. Nearby options include Cages Bend Boat Ramp with its free fishing pier, as well as Nashville attractions like the Hermitage and the Grand Ole Opry.
Getting there: From Nashville, TN: Take I-65 N to TN-386/Vietnam Veterans Blvd. Take Exit 9 from TN-386/Vietnam Veterans Blvd, turn right onto Shute Lane. Continue straight onto Avondale Access Road. Follow signs into recreation area.
