Setting
Little Oak Campground occupies peninsula land along the shores of South Holston Lake, looking toward Holston Mountain. The facility contains 69 accessible sites laid out across four loops. Amenities feature paved roads, vault toilets in each loop, an 8-stall shower house, a lakeside grassy picnic area, and an internal concrete boat launch reserved for campers. The grounds provide direct shoreline access for swimming and boat tie-offs, with hiking and horseback riding trails nearby. Bristol Motor Speedway and Damascus, Virginia are each 30 minutes away.
Getting there: From Bristol, take US 421 south for 12 miles, and turn right onto paved Camp Tom Howard Road. After 0.5 miles, this road becomes Forest Road #87. Continue on Road #87 for six miles. Turn right on Road #87G for 1.5 miles to Little Oak.
