Setting
Located near the top of Chilhowee Mountain at 2,000 feet elevation, this group camp accommodates up to 75 people in a mixed hardwood and pine forest. The site features individual tent spaces scattered around an RV spot with electric hookups, picnic tables, a large grill, drinking water, and a year-round vault toilet, plus a seasonal bathhouse with flush toilets and showers. A short walk leads to 7-acre McKamy Lake for swimming and bank fishing, while 25 miles of hiking and biking trails weave through the surrounding area.
Getting there: From Highway 64/411 intersection, travel east 7 miles, turn onto Forest Road 77, drive 7.5 miles to campground/recreation area.
