Smith Springs Recreation Area is a day-use facility along J. Percy Priest Lake, bordered by grasslands, cedar glades, and woodlands 10 miles east of Nashville. The site features a large group shelter that accommodates up to 50 guests and parking for 12 vehicles. Visitors come for boating, canoeing, and fishing for species like bass, crappie, and trout on the 14,200-acre reservoir. The paved Anderson Road Fitness Trail is nearby, winding over a mile through the adjacent cedar glade terrain.
Getting there: From downtown Nashville, TN, take I-40 east 5 miles to exit 219. Turn right on Stewarts Ferry Pike, then left on Smith Springs Road. The recreation area is on the left after about 2 miles.
