Setting
Cook Day Use Area is a day-use park set in the woods and grasslands along J. Percy Priest Lake, roughly ten miles east of downtown Nashville and near President Andrew Jackson's historic Hermitage. The 14,200-acre lake hosts fishing for bass, crappie, bluegill, and trout, alongside boating and canoeing. The park features a large sandy swimming beach, a playground, grassy open areas, and the 1.6-mile Three Hickories Nature Trail. Facilities include two large reservable group picnic shelters accommodating 75 to 100 guests. The Cedar Glades Natural Area is nearby.
Getting there: From downtown Nashville, TN, take I-40 east for 7 miles to exit 221B. Turn right on Old Hickory Boulevard, left on Bell Road, right on New Hope Road and right on Stewarts Ferry Pike. Follow the signs to the picnic shelters.
